Family Owned Since 1924

In 1903, a 24-year-old man named Carl Marius Treppendahl was sent from Denmark to New Orleans wearing a shipping tag pinned to his coat that read “SEND ME TO WOODVILLE, MISSISSIPPI. I DO NOT READ OR SPEAK ENGLISH.”

Carl Treppendahl had been promised a job as a bookkeeper by another Danish gentleman who unfortunately lost his business shortly after Carl immigrated to the United States. Carl was left in Woodville without anything, so he decided to do a little bit of everything. He opened a mercantile where he bought and sold everything from hardware and dry goods to lumber and fertilizer. In 1924 he added a grocery store in downtown Woodville to his enterprises. The businesses grew and in 1950 became incorporated as C. M. TREPPENDAHL AND SONS, INC.

Carl’s son Adolph took over the operation of the business which eventually passed to his son, Wettlin Treppendahl, Jr.

In 1976, the grocery operation was moved to its current 18,000-square-foot location at the corner of U.S. HWY 61 and HWY 24 in Woodville, Mississippi. In 1988 Treppendahl’s became a member of Associated Grocers of Baton Rouge and was renamed Treppendahl’s SuperFoods. Treppendahl’s Super Foods is a complete full-service grocery offering many specialty items and select and premium meats.

Today Wettlin Treppendahl is assisted in the daily operation of the store by his daughter, Susan Treppendahl LeBlanc.
